I know, it's been a while since I posted on blog, that's why I'm going to make it up to you today. The reason, why there's so few posts, is, that I decided to make my job search even more active. I'm now a part of an employment project and I'm really occupied, but I'll anyway try to find some time in the next two months to share my work with you.
Today is friday and I'm presenting to you an invite I made for a very special person and for a very special occasion - my daddy celebrated 50. birthday last year.
50 let predstavlja lep nabor življenjskih izkušenj in ogromno dogodkov, zato sem se odločila, da bom vabilo naredila v stilu naslovnice časopisa. Ker je moj oče rojen v 60. letih prejšnjega stoletja, sem pred oblikovanjem vabila naredila obsežno raziskavo o tem, kako so takrat izgledali časopisi.
50 years presents a beautiful collection of life experience and a lot of happenings, that's why I decided to make the invite in newspaper cover style. Because my father was born in the 60s, I made a extensive research on appearance of nespapers in that era. Of couse I allowed myself a little of creative freedom; I wanted that the invite would be personalized, made for him alone.
That's why I put on top a line with edelweiss - my dad went in his "younger" years very often on mountain hikes, so edelweiss seemed to be perfect as decoration. Under the line I added the name of the "newspaper", I named it Abrahamovec (it means man, that celebrates 50. birthday or Abraham). For the inscription I chose somewhat gothic font, because I have always, when I hear the word newspaper, association on first newspapers, that had the names written in similar font. Between the two lines I wrote which issue it's about (50., of course) and on what date the issue is going to be released (I wrote the day and date of celebration).
What followed was a central part of the invitation. The title of cover story is very important and I wanted it to express the point and to be funny at the same time. Next is a short description of what's it all about and the address of the birthday man, which is marked in italic font.
On the lower side of paper I added two squares; the left one contains the actual invite to the party, and the right one contains the location of the celebration. The location info was made as an advertisement for the restaurant, like the ones we actualy find in newspapers.
- napis o izdaji: Bell MT,
- naslov članka in naslov vabila: Britannic Bold,
- uvod članka: Edwardian Script ITC,
- jedro članka: Book Antiqua,
- citat: Monotype Corsiva,
- datum v vabilu: Ruritania Outline (številka), Ruritania (letnica), AR DECODE (ura).
This was followed by a mandatory "Please report the participation..." and a line, that kind off completed the invitation. There was no colour scheme, because everything was written in black. I also used a pretty big collection of fonts:
- newspaper title: Sketch Gothic School,
- issue inscription: Bell MT,
- article and invite title: Britannic Bold,
- article introduction: Edwardian Script ITC,
- article core: Book Antiqua,
- quote: Monotype Corsiva,
- date in the invite: Ruritania Outline (the number), Ruritania (year), AR DECODE (hour).
The invitation was printed in A4 format and on a special paper with brown marblelike pattern - so the invitation would give the recycled paper feel.
Kaj mislite o vabilu? Všeč ali ne?
What do you think about the invite? Like or not?
